  • Gardens of Earthly Delights

    Espacio Gallery , London, 2021

An exploration of innocence, temptation, chaos, natural order, hell, and — gardens.

Garden of Earthly Delights, Hieronymus Bosh’s surreal 15th Century masterpiece, can both intrigue and repel the viewer with its lurid beauty permeating the orgiastic landscape. Critics have ceaselessly debated as to whether it is an ‘admonition of worldly fleshy indulgence and a dire warning on the perils of life’s temptations’ or an ‘evocation of ultimate sexual joy’.

More than 500 years after its creation, this beguiling and surprisingly contemporary work of art is the source of inspiration for Androtechne’s exhibition ‘Gardens of Earthly Delights’. Ten international artists creating work inspired by this extraordinary masterpiece.

  • Our Digital Selves

    Online. 2021

This new work arrives with a corresponding new diversity of subject and medium: Visceral human experience stripped down to coded content; Haunting - the digital echoes of those who’ve died; Loneliness and intimacy in the new digital reality; Self-manipulation and alternative imaginings; Portrayals of emotional and corporeal peril. The digital realm - sanctuary or opiate, benign or malign?

  • RAFT — Between the Waves

Gericault’s painting ‘The Raft of the Medusa’ shows a moment in which hope emerges for the few survivors of the wrieck of the Medusa: an event that was neither myth nor legend, but truth. Is it human nature to piece together our own rafts — gathering what is essential to keep us afloat, to cling to while adrift in uncertainand ominous times? Do we search through our own truths in hope of creating something that can sustain us and save us? In a time in which issues of epic proportion face humanity, twelve artists from the Androtechne collective have created personal responses to Gericault’s painting, to current events, and to finding hope.
