The Cabaret is a series of three-dimensional portraits, videos, video installations and performances of the LGBT community and its allies in Wilton Manors / Fort Lauderdale, FL. Drag queens, gogo dancers, bartenders, artists, DJs, nudists, athletes, and some of the regulars are part of a group of unsung heroes that cherish their freedom as Americans and immigrants in the US, celebrating their own  individuality. The author of the project has been living and working in Wilton Manors, taking care of his aging mother’s illness, and finishing his own immigration struggle, while on sabbatical leave. All the participants in the project were met in a wide range of social spaces, bars, dance clubs, coffee places, athletic events, and christmas parties, that reflect the vast culture and dynamics of a safe haven that cherishes freedom and self-expression, survival tools to face the rise of the American right to power.
